A. Nucor manufactures carbon steel-
bar products by recycling steel scrap.
Products include merchant bar, rebar
and special bar quality steel which serve
the construction, service center, min-
ing, railroad and automotive markets.
Q. What is unique about your busi-
A. Nucor is the largest recycler in
the state, recycling over 500,000 tons
of steel scrap each year in making it's steel
products. All of Nucor's steel products
have a minimum recycled content of
Q. Awards/Recognition?
A. Nucor received the New York
State Governor's Recycling Award in
2000, was accepted into US EPA's Envi-
ronmental Performance Track Program
in 2002, won US EPA's Performance
Track Outreach Award in 2003 and
won the Steel Manufacturers Associa-
tion Recycler of the Year Award in
2003. Nucor was accepted into the
Performance Track program for anoth-
er term in 2005
Q. Community Involvement?
A. Nucor is extremely active in the
community through it's participation
in The United Way, The Cayuga Coun-
ty Chamber of Commerce, The Coun-
ty Community College, The Board of
Cooperative Educational Services,
numerous athletic organizations and
a host of other civic, charitable and
educational groups.
