Lake Ontario - With low water levels in the
tributaries Chinook and coho salmon fishing
continues to be good in the lake. Salmon are being
caught on a variety of baits including J-Plugs, flies
and flashers, and spoons. Good colors have been
glow green and glow blue. Early morning action has
been the best. Smallmouth bass are being caught in
10 to 20 ft. of water with bass being taken on crabs
and minnows.
Oswego River - There are salmon in the river with
some activity up as far as the dam. Good baits are
egg sacs and egg imitating plastics and flies. Bass
have been taking crayfish, nightcrawlers and
shiners. Worms and minnows are taking yellow
perch in the river.
Salmon River - ** Due to the extremely low water
level of the Salmon River the Lower Fly Section is
closed until October 15. The Lower Fly section
goes from the County Route 52 bridge in Altmar
upstream .25 miles to the marked boundary at
Beaverdam brook.** Fish are slowly making there
way up river. The majority of activity is still taking
place in the lower river from the Estuary to the Ball
Park.
Oneida Lake - The walleye fishing has been slow.
Trolling in 40 ft. of water with Jr. Thundersticks and
Rapalas has been producing some fish. Good
colors have been silver/blue and yellow perch. Bass
fishing has been good for anglers fishing near
Shackelton Shoals. Yellow perch are being caught in
12 to 25 ft. of water on small crayfish and fathead
minnows.
Sandy Pond - The low water levels are making
fishing difficult in some areas of Sandy Pond. Some
bass and northern pike are still being caught on
spinnerbaits and crankbaits.
Cayuga Lake - Lake trout fishing has been good.
Anglers jigging or trolling down 70 to 90 ft. with
spoons or plastics are getting fish. Some
landlocked salmon and rainbow trout are being
caught 60 ft. down over 100 ft. of water. Yellow
perch are being caught in 40 ft. of water on
minnows and worms.
Owasco Lake - Lake trout fishing has been very
good for anglers jigging and trolling in the north
end. Fish are being caught throughout the day in 65
to 80 ft. of water. Walleye fishing is beginning to
pick up with fish being caught after dark on
stickbaits. Smallmouth bass fishing is fair with fish
being caught in 15 to 25 ft. of water.
Skaneateles Lake - Trout and salmon fishing
continues to be good. Fishing 70 ft. down with glow
spoons is still working well for lake trout, rainbow
trout and landlocked salmon. Smallmouth bass and
perch fishing has been good. Fish are being caught
on drop-shot rigs in 15 to 30 ft. of water.
Otisco Lake - Walleye fishing has slowed but a few
fish are still being taken by deep water trolling. Bass
fishing continues to be fair for anglers fishing
stickbaits or minnows.
Whitney Point Reservoir - Walleye fishing is slowly
picking up with a few fish being caught on worm
harnesses. Channel catfish fishing continues to be
good in the north end on worms and minnows.
Susquehanna, Chenango, Tioughnioga and
Unadilla Rivers - Bass fishing has really picked up.
Fish are being caught on tubes baits and crankbaits.
Good crankbaits have been Big-O's and Rebel
craws. Dark colored baits are working well. Channel
catfish are biting on worms and minnows.
