the process. Assuming the bride's and groom's fam-
ilies are roughly the same size, allocate half of the
maximum number of guests to each set of parents
to invite. If you are inviting 200 people and one set
only wants to invite 75, the other set should get to
invite the remaining 125. However, if the limit has
been met but one set of parents wants to invite
more than its share, simply hold them responsible
for the extra costs.
Weeding out the wedding list
It might seem harsh, but rank your guests in
order of importance. This will help if you've
exceeded your limit and need to make cuts.
Also, don't feel the need to invite everyone you
know and their mothers. That also goes for chil-
dren and your single friends' short-term significant
others. Many couples get so caught up in trying to
please everyone that they forget it's their wedding.
On your special day, you should be surrounded by
people you know and love. And if you have to
leave out people you wish could come, keep them
on a special list in case other guests are unable to
attend.
Remember, you can't please everyone. By keep-
ing the guest list to only those with whom you
have special relationships, your wedding day will be
more meaningful - and less expensive!
