One of the latest additions to the popular Outback
Steakhouse restaurants is this facility built by Fortunato
Construction in New London, Connecticut. The restaurant
incorporated a new prototype interior design layout while
still offering the familiar decor for which the facility has
become known.
Another facility was recently completed at the end of
September in Auburn, Massachusetts. Project Manager for
Fortunato was Rich Fortunato.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
"It has been a pleasure working with Fortunato Construction Group and Tecton Architects, pc on the recent Gambro
Dialysis facility in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The project coordination and scheduling requirements demanded
excellent communication between all members of the project team -- the owner's representative, architect, and
contractor. Fortunato's staff were professional and proficient in every aspect of managing this project and working
as true team members. The success of a project is often determined by the people involved on the building team
and this assignment exemplified a high level of professionalism on everyone's part. The result is a project for which
every member of the team and the owner can be proud. I am looking forward to the opportunity of working again
with Fortunato Construction Group on future projects and compliment their quality of construction, high standards
and project management skills."

Message From The President --
On the subject of 'Balance' . . .
Mother nature demands equilibrium
in all things. Balance. In the world of
science, forces are met by equal and
opposite reactions. Balance. In eco-
nomics, the relationship between sup-
ply and demand determines price.
Balance. A pendulum swings from
left to right and back again, but it is
always being pulled toward the middle. Balance.
These statements might sound pretty straightforward, but they are
far more profound than meets the eye. For example, most people
would agree that a good leader is someone who is decisive. But
most people will also agree that a good leader carefully considers
all aspects of the issues before reaching a decision. Which opinion
correctly portrays a good leader? The answer may lie in knowing
whether the individual is still waiting for information, or just avoid-
ing making a decision. Balance.
Life is about balance. Balancing the need for continuity versus the
need for change. Balancing the self imposed demand for introspec-
tion ("the unexamined life is not worth living") against the need for

a respite from anxiety ("ignorance is bliss"). Balance.
What does all this philosophical stuff mean in our everyday lives?
Balance applies to human nature and relationships. It means we
should not embrace extreme positions. It means we can not stop the
pendulum at its limit. We like to think that most issues are black and
white, which makes it easier to reach a decision or justify a choice.
Disagreements usually have two sides to them, however, and often
there is some validity to both perspectives. The reality is that most
issues are gray, where opposite points of view need to be reconciled.
Balance.
Recognizing this need for balance will help us understand opposing
viewpoints. And understanding is the first step toward harmonious
relationships with others. It can resolve differences of opinions and
foster good relationships. Being mindful of this will help minimize
the damaging effects of conflicts in our relationships and contribute
to reaching equitable resolutions much sooner. Balance.
