Custom Formula Editor and Compiler
CASE STUDY
The formula editor was implemented as three-tiered Web application with rich user interface capabilities. It
required extensive use of client-side DHTML scripting within development of ASP.NET components and
synchronization of their interactions. A3 Software provided a set of styles that was used to ensure visualization
of the editor according to other A3 components.
To make the project transparent for the both parties it was split up in the three following phases:
o
Specification phase. Within this phase Astrosoft development team analyzed the initial requirements,
studied A3 Software components, revealed amount of efforts for the implementation and prepared
software requirements specifications on the formula editor and compiler components with small
prototypes to check integration issues.
o
Specification approval phase by A3 Software. Within this phase A3 Software engineers carefully
analyzed the developed specifications, checked integration with their application environment, and
made required correction in A3 Software components needed for the implementation.
o
Implementation phase and acceptance testing. All required functionality of the components were
implemented and properly tested by Astrosoft development team. After delivery at the acceptance
testing of the components Astrosoft provided a number of additional releases that included fixes and
small changes according to A3 Software test reports.
Result
Project organization allows the sides to avoid misunderstanding in functional and technical requirements, clear
define project time schedule to keep the final deadline on time, and be sure that the components satisfy A3
Software customers' needs.
A3 Software was satisfied with project's results and developed module was added in A3 Software's product list.
Astrosoft is providing maintenance services to implement new features in software according with additional
requests from A3 Software customers. Astrosoft and A3 Software are continuing to cooperate in other .NET
related projects.
