TWO PROCESS INNOVATIONS
As H+M continued to focus on the critical issues that needed to change
in order to significantly reduce the project delivery time, two issues kept
coming to the top.
First, ensure that the Owner and their vendors could provide information
quickly enough to support the necessary design schedule. To solve
this problem, H+M developed "Quick Start" a checklist and time
frame of the exact information that must be provided by the
Owner and/or equipment supplier(s) to support our design
and construction schedule.
The second critical factor: integrate subcontractors into the
H+M HYPER-TRACK teamwork model. "H+M's attitude is
that we cannot think and act as individual subcontractors
but as a team everyone works together," says Dan
Ahrens of Ahrens Concrete. "Everyone talks it,
but H+M made us believe it and it worked.
We found this attitude not only shortens
the duration of the project, it makes the
project more profitable for everyone."
