REGULATIONS:
1.
Only films in 16mm, 35mm, or video
format with composite optical sound
tracks will be considered for presentation.
2.
All films must have been completed
after March 15, 2001.
3.
Films must be presented in their original
language with English language subtitles
for purposes of participation in the event.
PROCEDURES:
Complete and sign the entry form and
enclose it with a labeled 1/2" NTSC video
tape. Please include also a plot synopsis,
cast and crew list, director's biography and
3-5 b&w or color stills from the film. All
entries must be accompanied by the
appropriate entry fee.
ENTRY FEE:
Entry fees are $30 for short films and $40 for
feature films and feature documentaries. If
you would like your film returned, add a $5
postal charge. Entry fees are to be made
payable to NIFF by check or money order.
Foreign entries should be drawn on money
orders in U.S. dollars.
FILM LENGTH DEFINITION:
Feature films and documentaries: 60 minutes
or longer; Student films, short films: 30 minutes
or less. We ask that you try to conform to
these lengths to aid our task of scheduling
film screenings. If your film runs between 30
and 60 minutes, please contact Program
Director for permission to submit.
DEADLINES:
Festival entries must be received by March 1,
2002. If accepted, film prints are due no later
than May 22, 2002.
NOTIFICATION OF RECEIPT:
If you wish a reply of receipt, please include a
self-addressed stamped postcard with your
mailing.
NOTIFICATION OF SELECTION:
Films are selected and invited to be shown at
NIFF by the Festival Director and screening
committee. Notification of acceptance will
be determined by April 28, 2002.
INSURANCE:
All selected films at NIFF will be insured during
the period that they are in the Festival's pos-
session.
TRAVEL AND HOSPITALITY:
It is NIFF's intention to provide, within its budg-
et, travel and accommodation for each film-
maker whose work is selected to attend.
However, given certain restraints, accept-
ance to NIFF in no way guarantees that the
festival will pay for or reimburse the travel or
housing costs of each filmmaker.
COMPETITION AND AWARDS:
A panel of jurists comprised of filmmakers and
professionals in the varied fields of cinema will
award the Festival's Best Feature, Best Short,
Best Documentary, Best Director, Best
Performance, Audience Awards and the
Claiborne Pell Award for Original Vision.
