"
The Northwest Asian Weekly Foundation's goal is to
promote diversity, leadership, and community building
among all youth. We can't do it alone, and that's why
we deeply appreciate the support of corporations like
Eddie Bauer. When sponsors attend the "Diversity
Makes a Difference" scholarship awards dinner each
year, they see the results of their contributions. They see
the student honorees experiencing the rewards of taking
leadership and reaching out to people unlike them-
selves. It's a magical evening, and it renews my faith in
what we can achieve if we work together.

Eddie Bauer supports
the forums to help foster
racial harmony.
One of our major projects with the NAACP (National
Association for the Advancement of Colored People) promoted
voter education on college campuses. We supported GLAAD
(Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) in its efforts
to increase awareness of issues faced by the gay and lesbian
communities. We won awards from the Urban League chapters of
Washington D.C. and Seattle for our support of their environ-
mental and educational programs for youth and working parents.
We also supported the National Council of La Raza's annual
convention to address legal, economic, and educational issues
among Latinos
Locally, our funds and ideas advanced the "It's Time to Talk"
series of forums on race relations sponsored by the Urban
Enterprise Center of Seattle's Chamber of Commerce.
We continued our long-standing support of the Northwest
Asian Weekly Foundation's annual "Diversity Makes a
Difference" event, honoring teens for their exceptional commu-
nity outreach efforts. For the first time in 2000, Eddie Bauer
joined other companies in sponsoring Seattle's Filipino commu-
nity's annual cultural celebration. And Eddie Bauer associate
Ayako Hibi completed the Executive Leadership Institute course
sponsored by the Japanese American Chamber of Commerce.
