ver the last five years, Eddie Bauer's
customers have validated our deci-
sion to focus external environmental activities on tree planting, through
the Global ReLeaf, Add a Dollar, Plant a Tree program. In partnership with
our customers, we have contributed nearly five million dollars to the
American Forests conservation organization to plant five million trees in
rural and urban areas in the United States and Canada.
In the year 2000, new store openings in Colorado and Hawaii featured
special tree plantings. Associates and customers gave their time and ener-
gy to send the strong environmental message that trees are critically
important to our quality of life -- to the air we breathe, to waterways and
animal habitat, and to our shared future.
