16. A small art gallery on Police Officer Bannai's regular patrol has been burglarized. The owner of
the gallery, Karel White, has prepared this inventory of missing objects:
2 small bronze sculptures, each valued at
$4,500
5 oil paintings, each valued at
$930
3 porcelain urns, each valued at
$2,220
7 framed prints, each valued at
$90
contents of cash register
$436
By what formula should Officer Bannai calculate the value of the missing property?
(A) 2 + 4500 + 5 + 930 + 3 + 2220 + 7 + 90 + 436
(B) 2 (4500) + 5 (930) + 3 (2220) + 7 (90) + 436
(C) (2 + 5 + 3 + 7)(4500 + 930 + 2220 + 90 + 436)
(D) (2 + 5 + 3 + 7)(4500 + 930 + 2220 + 90) + 436
17. Police officers are required to respond to areas where people have become ill or been injured and
to render necessary aid, take corrective action, and prepare prescribed forms. Upon arrival at a
scene at which aid is required, a police officer should:
1. Render reasonable aid to the sick or injured person.
2. Request an ambulance or doctor if necessary.
3. Wait in view to direct the ambulance or assign a responsible person to do so.
4. If the ambulance does not arrive in 20 minutes, make another call.
5. Accompany the unconscious or unidentified aided person to the hospital in the body of
ambulance.
Off-duty Police Officer McGonnigle is in the vicinity of a construction site where a heavy steel
beam has fallen from the roof and struck a woman passing by on the sidewalk. Officer
McGonnigle runs to the scene and finds that the woman is unconscious and is bleeding profusely
from a wound to the groin. The first thing Officer McGonnigle should do is
(A) identify himself as a police officer.
(B) send for an ambulance.
(C) attempt to stop the bleeding by applying pressure.
(D) reassure the woman that he will go to the hospital with her.
