ASK A FINANCIAL AID REPRESENTATIVE
LESSON PLAN #10
Lesson Objective: The students will learn about case studies in the financial
aid application process. The students will interact with a financial aid expert,
inquiring about issues that are pertinent to them.
Procedure:
1. Introduce your guest speaker (a financial aid representative from a
nearby postsecondary educational institution). Your speaker should
address:
a) An overview of financial aid,
b) Student success stories gaining financial aid,
c) Mistakes students make when applying for financial aid, &
d) Techniques and tips for securing financial aid.
If the speaker is using a videotape or PowerPoint presentation, make
sure that you have the appropriate equipment.
2. Now give students an opportunity to ask their prepared questions (last
lesson's assignment).
3. If you have time, ask the students to look through The Financial Aid
Answer Book, giving them an opportunity to request additional
clarification of any parts of the book and to share what they considered
to be the most helpful areas.
Materials: Financial Aid Guest Speaker and A-V equipment as requested.
