THE FINANCIAL AID SCHOLARSHIP BOWL

LESSON #9


Lesson Objective:
The students will review financial aid terms and concepts
covered in The Financial Aid Answer Book.

Procedure:

1. Ask the students if they have any questions or comments regarding
The Glossary of The Financial Aid Answer Book. Then split the
students into groups of four. Explain that each group will write and
answer several questions about the material that has been covered in
The Financial Aid Answer Book. Spend about one-third of the class
period on the questions and answers.

2. Collect the questions from each group and tell the students that now
they are ready for The Financial Aid Scholarship Bowl. Select two
groups to come in front of the to begin the challenge. Using the
students' questions, ask a question of the first person in the first group.
If he or she answers the question correctly, that team receives one
point. If the person's answer is incorrect, go to the first person of the
second team and continue until the question is answered correctly and
one point is awarded. If a team scores one point, continue to ask
questions of that team until a question is answered incorrectly. This
round of play is over when one team reaches ten points. The team
who scored the ten points will stay in play, challenging a new group.
The game will continue until all teams have gotten a chance to play.

3. Tell the students that in the next session a Financial Aid
Representative will visit the class. Suggest that the students talk to
their parents to see if they have any questions or concerns about
financial aid.

Materials:
The Financial Aid Answer Book

Assignment: Review The Financial Aid Answer Book and then tell the students
to ask their parents if they have any questions or concerns that could be shared
with the Financial Aid Representative.
