Cost of Attendance (COA)
Tuition
Some colleges charge a flat rate while others
calculate tuition according to the number of credit
hours.
Fees
Some fees (such as activity fees) are paid by all
students
whereas
other
fees (such as laboratory fees)
are assigned only to students enrolled in a particular
course.
Books &
These costs are determined by the type of courses
Supplies
one takes. You can check the college bookstore to get
an estimate of how much your books will cost.
Room &
This will depend on whether you live in an apartment
Board
or dormitory. Some colleges include meals in their fee,
others charge per meal.
Transportation
This depends on how far you need to travel and how often
you go home.
Personal
This includes laundry, clothes, cleaning & entertainment.
Expenses
Medical/Dental
Some colleges provide some medical care at a low cost,
others do not.
Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
This is a combination of parents' and student's income, checking and
savings accounts, dividends, and other income.
