Peterson's Buckley GREAT Profile Page 1
Paula Buckley
is a graduate of the Medical Assistants Program at Silicon Valley
College in Walnut Creek, California, one of 15 campuses of the U.S. Education Corpora-
tion.
Paula did not come easily or quickly to postsecondary education. She was the youngest of
five children, raised by a single mother. Neither her mother nor any of her aunts or uncles
had any education past eighth grade. Paula married young and became a mother. She
eventually found a job she enjoyed, working as a workers' compensation administrator at a
large company. After 13 years, her employer was forced to downsize.
Paula realized that what she enjoyed most about her job was the opportunity to help
people. She decided to change career paths, but to stay in a related medical field. Recog-
nizing the growing need for medical assistants, she enrolled in Silicon Valley College's
Medical Assisting Program, 20 years after receiving her GED.
While in school, Paula maintained a 4.0 average. She displayed professionalism in both her
classroom time and her externship, and was always willing to help wherever she could.
Paula completed a 243-hour externship with Dr. Carlos Andersen, a specialist in internal
medicine; but by the time Dr. Anderson offered her a job, she was already employed with
Dr. Paul Endo.
Paula's goal is to be part of a professional team providing the best care possible for pa-
tients, in as efficient and caring an atmosphere as possible. She is truly living her motto
of "I love helping people."
