This grant provides additional resources and stipends to teachers who participate in
bimonthly professional development meetings to learn how to integrate digital video and
images from United Streaming, a digital camera, or digital video camera into Powerpoint
or SmartPad (software for the Interactive Whiteboards). Teachers will also improve their
ability to design lessons that integrate technology and incorporate problem solving
strategies and SOL concepts by learning best practices from the North Tier class
"Building a Better Classroom: Constructivism in an SOL World!" Teachers will form a
"Digital Learning Community" and meet bimonthly to collaborate and share ideas. They
will present their lessons during a faculty meeting, serve as a resource to their team, and
share their resources online through the Blackboard Community and with county
specialists. This grant will serve a socio economic diverse community of approximately
400 students from grades 6-8 in English, Social Studies, Math, and Science.
