Zoological Record on Compact Disc (ZR on CD) is the compact disc version of the
printed reference
Zoological Record (ZR) and Zoological Record Online (ZRO). ZR is
the oldest and most respected continuing scientific bibliographic reference tool, founded
in 1864 by a group of zoologists associated with The Zoological Society of London and
The British Museum. The Zoological Society assumed complete responsibility for
ZR in
1886. BIOSIS and the Society agreed to publish
ZR jointly in 1980.
ZR on CD contains all the information in ZR from Volume 115 to the present and
simplifies searching by offering a unique thesaurus for pinpointing appropriate search
terms.
ZR on CD is updated quarterly to keep researchers abreast of the latest develop-
ments. Approximately 66,000 records are added annually. At the end of each year, the
entire back file set is remastered to unify searching over the years. Therefore,
ZR on CD
consists of the current year and a back file set.
ZR on CD is published jointly by The Zoological Society of London and BIOSIS,
which is an independent, not-for-profit organization, and the world's largest abstracting
and indexing service for biological and medical research literature. Founded in 1926,
BIOSIS produces a variety of products and services, including the print products
Biological Abstracts and Biological Abstracts/RRM (Reports, Reviews, Meetings),
Zoological Record, the online databases BIOSIS Previews, BioBusiness and
Zoological Record Online, and the CD-ROM products, Biological Abstracts on
Compact Disc, Biological Abstracts/RRM on Compact Disc, BIOSIS GenRef on
Compact Disc and Foods Intelligence on Compact Disc.
