Changing the Selected Term
As you browse the Selected Term Details or the Term Information screens, you may see a
more appropriate term you wish to use. To change the selected term, see the chart below.
PC SPIRS
1. Press
C for Change Selection.
2. Move the cursor to the new term
using the arrow keys.
3. Press
S for Select Term. The Se-
lected Term Details screen for the
new term is displayed.
WinSPIRS
1. Click on the new term.
2. Click on
Term Information. The
Term Information screen for the new
term is displayed.
PC SPIRS
1. Press
T for Tree to display the
hierarchical display of all broader and
narrower terms for your selected
term.
2. If your term appears in more than
one tree, from the
Tree menu, use
the
[Tab] key to select the appropriate
Tree number, or type the tree num-
ber and press
[Enter].
3. Use the
[PgUp] and [PgDn] keys
to scroll through the tree; press
T for
Top to go to the top of the tree.
WinSPIRS
1. If your term appears in only
one tree, select
View Full Tree from
the Option menu to display the
hierarchical display of all broader and
narrower term for your selected term.
2. If your term appears in more than
one Tree, click on the term in the
tree you want to view and select
View
Full Tree from the Option menu.
3. Use the scroll bar to scroll through
the Tree.
At this point, you have several options. You can look at one of the expanded trees, select
another term and view its Selected Term Details or Term Information, or go to step 4
and conduct a search for your current term.
View an Expanded Tree:
PC SPIRS
1. With the cursor on the term you
want to use, press
S for Select Term
to select it.
2. If necessary, scroll through the
Selected Term Details screen using
the
[ ] and [ ] keys. See Figure 2,
Page 20.
WinSPIRS
1. With the cursor on the term
you want to use, click on
Term
Information.
2. If necessary, use the scroll bar to
scroll through the Term Information
screen.
Step 3: View the Selected Term Details or Term Information
Once you select a term and view its Selected Term Details or Term Information, it
becomes the currently selected item.
