Corporate Names:
·
A geographic location is given in cases in which more than one organization
exists with the same name.
·
Corporate names are given in full in the entry and are abbreviated in the Author
Index in accordance with the standards of the American National Standards Insti-
tute (ANSI) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
·
Acronyms are listed without spaces between the letters (e.g., WHO for World
Health Organization).
How do I use the Author Index?
1. Select the name to be searched; check all variants and combinations of relevant
initials.
2. Locate the personal or corporate name in the alphabetical position of the index.
3. Consult the individual entries within a particular issue or volume using the
reference numbers.
The Organism Index
The Organism Index provides access to information via taxonomic names. The Organ-
ism Index is a new index for 1998 and replaces the previous Biosystematic and Generic
Indexes. The Organism Index lists all of the literature in an issue where particular taxa
are discussed and is arranged systematically by taxon name. Taxon names are followed
by the Major Concepts and keywords that best describe the context in which that organ-
ism is discussed in the source document. Reference numbers appear to the right of the
corresponding entries. The following is an excerpt from the Organism Index:
