Units of Study
Unit 1
Attendance at 16 hours of lectures and discussion on the Suzuki philosophy,
methodology, psychology of teaching and child development.
Lectures are held on Tuesday evenings from 7.45 10.15pm. Dates for 2003 are
March 4 & 18, May 6 & 20, August 5 & 19, October 7 & 21.
Assessment
Minimum of 90% attendance.
Two written papers (one on the Suzuki philosophy).
Participation in two association events.
Unit 2
Attendance and participation in tutorials (equivalent to 34 hours), focussing on
practical repertoire study, tonalization and demonstrations.
Regular studio observation of approved teachers (20 hours).
Assessment
Minimum of 90% attendance.
Completion of an Observation Diary.
Unit 3
Private lessons as required. (Exemptions may be granted.)
Memorisation of repertoire from Books 1- 4
Assessment
Performance from memory of the Book 1 4 repertoire (presented in class).
Recital and viva voce examination of teaching points. (See page 6 for
recital requirements.)
Unit 4
Presentation of students
Assessment
Demonstration lessons with two students, one the trainee's own, the
second provided by the Teacher Trainer.
Presentation of at least three students in a performance of works taught
during the year.
Conduct a group lesson of 20-30 minutes duration.
General Requirements of the Course
· Regular attendance - a minimum of 90%
· Detailed record keeping of attendances and observation in official Course books
· Commence teaching students (under supervision if necessary)

Attain the age of 18 years before receiving Primary Accreditation
