EQUIPMENT :
Scout Pathfinder compass & large paper bag.
Committee will supply the paper bag
PREPERATION:
Read and understand the Scout compass and know how to judge
distance.
ACTION:
Scout places bag over his head
compass in hand
is giving bearing and
distance to predetermined point. He is then turned around at least three
times by patrol mates. He must then trust the compass and his scout
skills to orient himself and find his way leading his patrol to point # 1. At
this point the Scout is changed, handed the compass, puts bag on head &
given instructions, turned around three times and leads patrol to point #
2. This process is repeated to points # 3 and # 4.

patrol may assist or talk to the Scout leading the patrol. Only one
compass per patrol may be used on the course.
REACTOR TRANSPORTER
EQUIPMENT:
Six Scout staves 6 foot long, four 6-foot lengths of lashing cord, 20 feet of
light cord, one # 10 can and one ½ nut.
Committee will supply 3 of the 6 staves, # 10 can, wire and nut
PREPERATION:
Know your various Scout lashings and their application.
ACTION:
Each patrol builds a transporter by lashing a three-sided frame with
three staves and then lashing on a tripod from the three corners of the
frame, using square lashings and a tripod lashing. The tin can is
suspended from the top of tripod and the nut is also hung from the top of
the tripod. The nut hangs down inside the can not touching the sides or
bottom. When finished, three patrol members pick up the transporter by
the three corners and carry to a point a distance away. If the nut swings
and hits the sides of the can, the patrol must return to starting line and
start over.
NOTE:
The committee can show the diagram to the patrol leader.
The object is to transport the reactor so gently and evenly that it is not
jarred
