EFFECT OF HR AND LACTATE THRESHOLD ON "LIVING HIGH-TRAINING LOW". Li

To have a clear understanding the influence of the players' oxygen carrying ability in living
high training low. This study divided college students into 2 groups, with 7 in each. The groups
are: 1) HiLo group (living high training low group); 2) LoLo group (living low training low
group); the experiment lasted for 4 weeks. HiLo group were exposed to low levels of air pressure
and oxygen (simulating 2,500-meter altitude) for 12 hours every day.Hr, Lactic acid and Lactate
threshold were measured by the Lactic acid analyzer, RBC cleavage liquor and 2 level loading
methods. Morning pulse was measured by the players themselves before rising every day. The
results showed that compared with those before the 4-week long experiment, The Lactic acid
concentration of the primary level and secondary level were lower, the decrease for periodically
exposed subjects to low oxygen level was greater and the Lactic acid concentration of the
secondary level of the post test decreased more significantly than the primary test(P<0.05). The
Lactate threshold of 2 groups was characterized by an increase of lactate concentration above 4
mmol/ l.. Higher intensity training improves oxygen uptake.. Hr of the LoLo group did not
change throughout the experiment, but the HiLo group was lowerP<0.05. The results also showed
that compared with those before the experiment. All the 4mol/l Lactic acid and anaerobic
threshold of 2 groups shifted to a higher aerobic capacity which occurred to a greater extent in the
group that was periodically exposed to low oxygen level, but did not reached significant.

To prevent and treat the events of cardiovascular diseases in elderly residents at high altitude
by evaluation chest X-ray. 300 normal elderly residents (averaged age, 64.3 yrs) of immigrant
Han and native Tibetan living at high altitude (2260m) and in lowland areas were examined by
means of chest X-ray. The lung markings and location of the diaphragm of the three groups were
observed. The heart horizontal diameters were not significantly different between groups of
immigrant Han and Tibetans (p0.05). However, the heart horizontal diameters were higher in the
lowland group (12.62±1.35cm) than in the immigrant group (12.07±1.63cm) (p<0.01).
Cardiac/thoracic ratio did not differ between Tibetan and immigrant groups, (p<0.05), but it was
lower in lowland group compared to immigrant group (p<0.01). The left diaphragm was, on
average, 2.3cm lower than the right diaphragm in Tibetan and immigrant groups, while it was, on
average, only 0.3 cm lower in the lowland group. P1, P2, P3, P4 showed no difference between
immigrant Han and Tibetan groups. On the other hand, P2, P3, P4 exhibited significant difference
between Tibetan and lowland groups (p<0.01). P1 also showed a difference (p<0.05). Meanwhile,
the degree of increased lung markings in immigrant Han and Tibetans was higher than that of the
lowland group. The radiological differences in Tibetans may relate to adaptation and gene
expression. There was an obvious change of chest X-ray measurement in Han residents at high
altitude who lived in the environmental hypoxia over 20 years compared to residents of lowland.
Cardiac/thoracic ratio was higher in the immigrant group compared to the lowland group.

The mental status of workers building the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is evaluated. Methods: 239
subjects sampled randomly from about 20,000 workers building the Qinghai-Tibet Railway above
4,000 meters were studied using PHI and SCL-90, etc. Results: 68 (28.3%) cases had a total mean
