Children and their Mobile Phones
This research was carried out in October 2006 and 1477 children responded over a two-week period.
Questions were designed to explore children's ownership and use of mobile phones:
Ownership
How many children have mobile phones?
At what age do they get them?
Who pays the bills?
Phoning
Where do they use them?
When do they use them?
Who do they call?
Do they call in public or in private?
Other uses
What do they use them for text, images, video or music?
Do they use their phones to send emails and access the Internet?
What prevents them going on the Internet?
How much do they spend on downloads like ring tones, pictures or videos?
Safety
Do they ever receive bad messages or rude stuff on the phone?
What rules do their parents have for phone use?
The future
What would children like to do with phones in the future?
