Efficacy and Activity
Mericare
treatments have been extensively tested under rigorous cockroach and flea egg
challenges. The combined activity of Fenoxycarb on eggs and immature stages as evidenced
above, stopped adult insects emergence for over 32 weeks.
Fenoxycarb is highly photo stable. Exposure of carpets treated with Fenoxycarb to indoor and
outdoor sunlight did not alter its ability to disrupt insect development even 32 weeks post-
treatment.
Safety and Toxicity
Fenoxycarb has non-neurotoxic insecticidal activity as an insect growth regulator. It acts as a
juvenile hormone analog to inhibit development, metamorphosis, molting and eclosion of the
various stages that occur in the development to an adult insect.
Fenoxycarb is not an organophosphate and has no activity on cholinesterase. It is non-
teratogenic, non-mutagenic and non-carcinogenic.
The low toxicity of Mericare
active ingredients make a safer product to recommend and
use.
