DEXAMETHASON 2 mg/ml
Composition:
Each ml solution contains: 2 mg dexamethasone (as disodium phosphate).
Action:
Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid with anti-shock, anti-
inflammatory, anti-allergic and gluconeogenic activities. Its actions are very
similar to prednisolone, but the activity is approximately 5 to 8 times
greater. Unlike prednisolone, its mineralocorticoid activity is minimal. Its
anti-inflammatory activity is at least 30 times greater than cortisone.
Indications:
In general myoglobinuria, allergic reactions, urticaria, toxinemia, shock,
stress and hepatitis. Locally: arthritis, bursitis, distorsions, tendinitis,
tendovaginitis and periarthritis.
Contra-Indications:
Diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis; heart- and kidney deficiencies,
administration in the last (third) part of the pregnancy. Infectious diseases
should not be treated unless suitable anti-infective therapy is given at the
same time.
Administration and Dosage:
Dexamethasone should be administered by intravenous, intramuscular,
intra-articulair or peri-articulair injection using normal aseptic techniques.
