The DTM (Deutschen Tourenwagen Masters) is the premiere German
sportscar racing series running in its sixth year and has been elected
the best Touring Car Series in the world by motoring magazines
across Europe and internationally.
The DTM has
substantial pull in two
areas - the
attractiveness of the cars and the extremely
competitive international grid. DTM cars'
attractiveness and performance level far exceeds
sports cars in other Touring Cars Championships.
Popularity of DTM grows from year to year. The
proof is in the ever-increasing coverage provided
by the media. The races can be watched live in a
total 17 countries in 2004. The season this year
is set to expand its reach internationally, including
Asia.
On the grid this season are famous seasoned pros such as two-time F1
Champion Mika Häkkinen and the other familiar F1 aces; Heinz-Harald
Frentzen, Jean Alesi and Allan McNish. This year also sees the inclusion
of MG as a newcomer to DTM. Along with strong DTM teams from Audi,
Mercedes-Benz and Opel, the season will see a record of four German
manufacturers on the grid for the first time.
