the wild bush, but they'll certainly not be `roughing it' in the west.
At Cradle Mountain, the Cradle Mountain Lodge has long
been pioneering smaller meetings and incentives. With larger
facilities available at the nearby Cradle Mountain Visitors
Centre, the P&O managed hotel has been attracting groups to a
mixture of private meetings with beautiful scenery, and hard incentive
options including trekking nearby Dove Lake or peak tracks.
Alternative accommodation has been in smaller, but
upmarket, alpine style chalet operations such as Lemonthyme
Lodge. The new kid on the Cradle Mountain block though, is
the brand new Doherty's Cradle Mountain Hotel. This
impressive new project will, when completed early 2003, not
only house a 60 room hotel, but also an eight room art gallery
and, most important to mice.net readers, the largest conference
centre in the mountain area.
The conference centre will have a central plenary room of
166 square metres, with theatre set up for up to 140 people. The
breakout area is an outside deck overlooking the forested
mountains of central Tasmania. For a meeting or teambuilding
weekend in a remote and scenic destination, Doherty's Cradle
Mountain Lodge should do well - the options for incentives are
also original.
