REGIONAL VICTORIA
tutored tastings, structured vineyard/winery
tours and tasting to a practical working
experience in the vineyard. These sessions
can be as short as a one-hour tasting to a full-
day of vineyard work (tasks dependent on
the time of the year).
There is also the "vineyard shed" available
for tastings or as a location for a rustic lunch,
complete with brassieres burning outside.
Wine making continues to be the bread
and butter for the property. Recently Tuck's
Ridge appointed a new senior winemaker,
Phillip Kittle, who has been lured back to the
Mornington Peninsula from Leeuwin Estate in
Western Australia. Phillip's passion is cool-
climate winemaking and his considerable
background in super-premium wine
production will be well suited to the Tuck's
approach the endless pursuit of quality.
Tuck's Ridge endeavors to provide visitors with a hands-on experience where
possible. Pinot Rustica is one day that people get to try their hand (and feet!) at
winemaking; helping pick pinot noir then join in the fun as the grapes are crushed in
the traditional way - feet first!
Participants can relax afterwards on the lawn listening to great music and enjoying
a well deserved glass of wine.

So many venues. So little time.
By Mike Williams, Director of Sales & Marketing,
Melbourne Convention & Visitors Bureau
A new service has been launched to help meeting planners find venues
throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria with just one phone call.
Victoria Meetings and Events Service (VMES) was
launched recently by the Victorian Minster for Tourism, John
Pandazopoulos, as part of the Victorian Government's ongoing
recovery strategy for tourism and business events.
VMES is a cooperative venture between the Melbourne
Convention & Visitors Bureau (MCVB) and the Regional Victorian Conference
Group (RVGC), to promote short-term meetings and events business for Melbourne
and regional Victoria. With a venue database including RVCG and MCVB members,
VMES gives you immediate access to Victoria's most comprehensive range of business
meetings and events venues for up to 500 people.
Anyone looking for a venue in Melbourne or Regional Victoria can confidentially
access the free venue booking service by calling 1300 555 857, with calls forwarded to sales
representatives in Melbourne and Sydney. Representatives will provide comprehensive
assistance, handling initial liaison with venues, sending out client briefs, short listing
venues and forwarding tailored proposals to the client.
A marketing campaign featuring the slogan So many venues. So little time, begins
in July.
VMES representatives in Melbourne are Victoria Carnegie and Penny Wong, and in
Sydney Sharlene Dadd and Michelle Hosie.
