O
VER THE LAST FEW MONTHS
MIAA has been successful in
establishing a new and exciting
relationship with mice.net to present
the members newsletter as part of mice.net magazine.
This arrangement enables the newsletter to be
distributed to an even wider audience than previously in a
very cost effective and efficient way. The newsletter will
now not only reach members but by being accessible
through mice.net magazine will also reach a broad group
of potential members.
Business partnerships of this type are becoming
increasingly important in all our business lives and this is
equally true for our association. The partnership with
mice.net will enable MIAA to reach more potential
members than previously and will enable MIAA to devote
its resources to the further development of services
seen as high priority by its members. In particular this
will enable an increased share of resources to be
devoted to professional development and other areas of
member services.
I look forward to a long and successful partnership with
mice.net and to the development of other partnerships
with other industry suppliers in the near future.

The Minister's presentation at the conference.
The relationship between the meetings industry and
the Federal Government was well served by the
involvement of the Minister in the conference, with
MIAA CEO Jenny Lambert describing the presentation
and discussions as "highly valuable".
In addition to the speech delivered to all delegates, the Minister
joined senior industry figures for lunch and then a forum where a range of
issues were canvassed. This forum involved heads of bureaux, convention
centre CEOs, QANTAS, the ATC, the Department of Industry Tourism &
Resources, the Exhibition and Event Association of Australia, BECA, and
leading meetings managers.
The issues discussed included ATC funding, and how monies can be
best used to achieve outcomes in the international marketplace. Also,
GST on contra and cooperation amongst government departments and
authorities were discussed.
The Minister concluded his time with the conference at the Gala
Dinner, where he presented a number of awards.
