VARTAN LLP/ U.S.A. (Director: Myles Price, 18 minutes)- One phone call shakes a powerful
Wall Street businessman to his very core in Vartan LLP.

SHORTS SCREENED WITH FEATURES
ALEX SCOTT: A STAND FOR HOPE/ U.S.A. (Director: Larry Mendte, 24 minutes)- When
a child has a will of her own, it's amazing what she can do. In Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope, a
young girl diagnosed with cancer decides to open a lemonade stand with the goal to raise $1
million for childhood cancer research.
ANGEL'S FIRE/ Peru (Director: Marcel Bukin, 13 minutes)- Angel is an 8-year-old brick-maker
who, along with his fellow child laborers, tries to develop a sense of community and friendship
amidst the horrifying conditions in the stirring Angel's Fire.

ART IN THE MIDDLE/ U.S.A. (Director: Annie Gregory, Elizabeth Brandenberg, 30 minutes)-
Public art is the subject of this short documentary ­ specifically the Art of Bret Price and the
effect his giant works have on the small community of New Bremen, Ohio. At the center is the
creation of `Amore' ­ a 13-foot tall, 5-ton metal work that we are allowed to witness from birth
to completion.
BAGHER BACHCHA/ India (Director: Bishnu Dev Halder, 24 minutes)- The film recounts
the story of Shyamol, a young boy struggling to survive and find his own way in the anonymity of
a humdrum metro station. Somewhere amongst the chaos lives an abandoned 10-year-old child,
who had been living in the Railway station, in the city of Kolkata. The story is told through the
perspective of millions of children like Shalom all over the world as they make their journey
through the past, to the present, and toward the hopes of a possible future.
BUILDING BRIDGES/ U.S.A/Bosnia-Herzegovina (Director: Jeanine Isabel Butler, 14 minutes)-
In an effort to reunite a fractured community, an exceptional group of women join together to
create the Mortar Women's Citizen Initiative of Bosnia in this extraordinary documentary about
setting aside differences to heal wounds wrought by tragedy. Narrated by Secretary of State
Madeleine Albright.

CRUNCH! / U.S.A. (Director: Sheila Schroeder, 13 minutes)- Life is full of challenges, but when
75-year-old Beverly Burns stumbles upon something she initially finds horrific she determines
she has a choice: she can dwell on the tragedy or she can find the comedy.
EVIDENCE OF LIFE/ U.S.A. (Director: Steve Marra, 16 minutes)-A video camera is found in
the rubble of the World Trade Center and is identified as the property of a passenger on Flight
175. Its contents, once revealed, let everyone know what was truly lost on that tragic day in
2001.
HAPPINESS/ U.S.A. (Director: Duncan Alney, 8 minutes)- Yats owner, Joe Vuscovich,
extrapolates on his definition of happiness in this short, sweet documentary about learning to
love the life you live.
