ANIMATION SENSATION
IIFF has packed 14 short films and nearly every style of animation into this collection (including
two by Oscar nominees).

DRAGON/ U.S.A (Director: Troy Morgan, 8 minutes) - A young girl draws her nightmarish
visions in the orphanage where she was sent after her parents' death in Dragon.
EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY/ U.S.A (Director: Don Hertzfeldt, 17 minutes)- In Oscar-
nominee Don Hertzfeldt's Everything Will Be Okay, Bill is forced to reckon with the meaning of
his life or lack thereof.
LA GALLINA CIEGA/ Spain (Director: Isabel Herguera, 7 minutes)- A blind man accidentally
loses his guide dog in the big city and discovers that his strength is recognizing his own
vulnerabilities in La Gallina Ciega.
GET BIZZY/ Scotland (Director: Henry Cruickshank, 6 minutes)- Three washed-up animated
stars try to come to terms with the success of their former roommate Bizzy's spiraling success
in Get Bizzy.
GUIDE DOG/ U.S.A (Director: Bill Plympton, 6 minutes)- In Guide Dog, a sequel to the Oscar-
nominated Guard Dog, our hero dog tries to assist the blind with typical disastrous results.
LOOM/ U.S.A (Director: Scott Kravitz, 6 minutes)- A street musician risks his life to save a child
only to meet his fate at the hands of an elderly woman who is more powerful than she seems in
Loom.
MCLAREN'S NEGATIVES/ Canada (Director: Marie-Josee Saint-Pierre, 10 minutes)- Using
techniques similar to those of its subjects, the animated documentary McLaren's Negatives
highlights the process behind the works of Oscar-winning animator Norman McLaren.
ONE RAT SHORT/ U.S.A (Director: Alex Weil, 10 minutes)- The mesmerizing ballet of a
discarded snack wrapper leads a New York rat into a grand adventure of love and loss in One
Rat Short.
PUPPET/ U.S.A (Director: Patrick Smith, 7 minutes)- A young man crafts a simple sock puppet
not knowing the abuse it's about to inflict upon its creator in Puppet.
TOILET STORY/ U.S.A (Director: Jared Matsuhige, 3 minutes)- Life isn't easy when you're a
toothbrush, or floss, or...well, you'll just have to watch Toilet Story to see who else has
complaints.
THE TRUE STORY OF SAWNEY BEANE/ Scotland (Director: Elizabeth Hobbs, 11
minutes)- The fable of Scotland's legendary cannibal becomes an unlikely story of motherly love
in the lushly animated The True Story of Sawney Beane.
