WKCQ Saginaw - Saginaw EEOOutreach Program 2004
held as Lead Coordinator in a mentoring capacity. The endeavor was the first for
Kristine Rodabaugh, since she had never planned such an event as described
below. The KCQ Country Music Fest Free Concert pre-planning which started in
February and included but was not limited to many aspects such as: Media
Planning, Sales Presentation Planning, Interaction with Government Officials,
Promotion Coordination, as well as Event Planning. The KCQ Country Music
Fest Free Concert is the biggest free country concert in the Midwest that
entertains 70,000 to 80,000 attendees on the Ojibway Island in Saginaw,
Michigan every year. In September of 2003, Kristine was asked to help take over
the WSAM Senior Expo. The WSAM Senior Expo is a bi-annual event that
caters to the 45+ Market in Saginaw and Bay City Michigan. This event draws
2000 to 2500 attendees during every expo and offers informational booths and
four seminars that deal with senior services. The event was originally ran by Barb
Sheltraw and it was determine that Kristine would be Lead Coordinator of the
WSAM Senior Expo and Barb Sheltraw would be a mentor for this program.
Items for were accomplished by Kristine for this event was Sales Presentation
pieces, Planning Coordination with local event center, Client Relations in
determination of their needs, and overall organization of this event. With this
being the second event that she has planned for MacDonald Broadcasting
Company, we believed that she would be able to handle this project. We have
also mentored Kristine in the arena of Client Relations. Kristine Rodabaugh is the
assistant to Duane Alverson, President of MacDonald Broadcasting Company and
Ken MacDonald Jr, Owner of MacDonald Broadcasting Company and Cindy
Tuck, Vice-President of MacDonald Broadcasting Company. They have taken
her through the steps of how to handle clients and their needs including Write up
Contracts, supply them with sales information, handling objections and problems
that may arise. We have also taught her how vital public relations and listener
relations are not only to the MacDonald Broadcasting Company, but in radio as a
whole. We feel that putting Kristine through this mentoring program is a way for
her to gain the skills necessary for her to advance her career at MacDonald
Broadcasting Company.
