According to Mitch Otera,
Project Manager for the Space
Vehicle Production Facility
(SVPF) project, a major factor in
TRW's selection of the W.E.
O'Neil team was our performance
on the M2 Clean Room addition
for the SVPF Phase 1, which was
delivered one month ahead of
schedule.
The newly awarded M1
Annex and highbay upgrades for
the SVPF Phase II project are part
of TRW's recent efforts to capital-
ize on the continuing demand for
wireless technology and the aero-
space industry's growing focus on
commercial satellite systems. The
new production area will be util-
ized to produce payload systems
for the broadband global telecom-
munications project, Astrolink.
Currently in the design phase
of the $4.8 million project, the
scope of work will include up-
grades to approximately 15,000 s.f.
of existing facilities and construc-
tion of a new 7,000 s.f. highbay
annex that will house TRW's
Antenna Nearfield Range. The
new highbay annex will be a

The main scope of work in-
cludes the installation of architec-
tural building lighting, four large
cast-in-place monument signs, a
completely new landscape lighting
package for all three buildings and
major renovation to the existing
landscape with new hardscape
revisions.
The project encompasses three
buildings spread out over a quarter-
mile area. To appeal to both street
and pedestrian traffic, the new
architectural building lighting plays
a significant role in creating a more
inviting atmosphere around the

consists of structural steel col-

as a 100,000 class clean room.
Completion date is October 2000.

Challenges the project team

face are the tight schedule and
