Decorative
Concrete
Staining concrete has become a
popular flooring alternative in new
construction and renovations.
Mid-Atlantic Construction recently
completed 5300 square feet of
stained floors and planter walls at
Latta Pavilion. Other recent staining
projects by Mid-Atlantic include
Contempoline Furniture and The
Kitchen Center in Charlotte.
Staining is a quick and affordable
option to add character to typically
dull and boring concrete, both in
earth tones and vibrant colors that
accentuate floors instead of
covering them up. Since staining is
a durable, permanent process, only
an occasional coat of sealer is
required.
Total
Package
Projects
Mid-Atlantic is
now offering
total concrete
packages. These
turn-key
packages may
include digging
foundations,
furnishing
concrete, placing
rebar in foundations, slab on grade
preparation and placing of slabs.
This new offering, combined with
our traditional concrete scope, has
enabled Mid-Atlantic to work with
customers who have expanded
needs. Current and past total
package projects include St. John's
Episcopal Church (Charlotte),
NorthEast Medical Center
(Concord, NC), Central Piedmont
Community College (Charlotte)
and the Presbyterian Hospital B
Deck expansion (Charlotte).
What's New
Imagine a project manager,
superintendent, senior estimator
and several office engineers
huddled over light tables with
colored pencils, scrutinizing
blueprints. While this might seem
like a page from the distant past of
construction methodology, it's
actually a modern copyrighted
process for review of construction
documents.

uses a detailed,
comprehensive checklist and an
overlay checking process done on light
tables to find and record errors and
omissions. Finding these discrepancies
early in the process saves countless
hours later in the project. And this
translates into cost savings.
Rodgers has used the process on
projects at Central Piedmont
Community College, Givens Estates
and Palmetto Richland Hospital.
