Two positions for organometallic/inorganic materials chemists at nanotechnology start-up, Nanoco
Technologies Ltd, are currently available. The positions will involve working for a fast growing and
dynamic company on the development of new types of quantum dots and will involve the synthesis
and handling of highly air and moisture sensitive liquids and solids (Schlenk, high vacuum and dry-
box techniques). The position will also involve working closely with customers who are currently
working on quantum dot based applications as diverse as biological imaging to opto electronics.
The applicants should have knowledge in the use of analytical instruments including transmission
electron microscopy, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, UV-vis, FTIR, powder X-ray diffraction,
thermo-gravimetric analysis, multinuclear NMR.
Nanoco is a spin out of University of Manchester and has with a mission to exploit university-derived
core intellectual property for the development and production of "quantum dots" and applications
based on quantum dots. Applicants will be based at Nanoco's laboratory in Manchester, UK.
Essential Requirements
· Strong background in chemistry and material synthesis
· Must be eligible to work in the UK
