Prong 2: Providing Notice of Each Full-Time Job Vacancy to Recruitment Organizations That Request Such Notice:
WEMU posted on its website the station's desire to provide job availability information to any individual or
organization that desired notification. The message changed to actively solicit applications for a news
reporter/announcer position during most of the period.
Prong 3: Non-Job Specific EEO Outreach Efforts Initiatives Designed by the FCC:
1
WEMU established an internship program with the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts of
Eastern Michigan University. Internships are awarded to select students in news, music, marketing or
development.
2
WEMU participates in the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Job Bank (michmab.org), available
on the Internet.
3
WEMU provides one scholarship per year (fall/winter semesters) for a sports broadcasting trainee.
The scholarship recipient not only receives a stipend each semester, but is also given employment
during the time of the scholarship period.
