Called and e-mailed candidates who had previously expressed an interest in news department
employment at WEMU.
Prong 2: Providing Notice of Each Full-Time Job Vacancy to Recruitment Organizations That Request Such Notice:
WEMU posted on its website the station's desire to provide job availability information to any individual or
organization that desired notification. The message changed to actively solicit applications for a news
reporter/announcer position during most of the period.

WEMU established an internship program with the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts of
Eastern Michigan University. Internships are awarded to select students in news, music, marketing or
development.

WEMU participates in the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Job Bank (michmab.org), available
on the Internet.

WEMU provides one scholarship per year (fall/winter semesters) for a sports broadcasting trainee.
The scholarship recipient not only receives a stipend each semester, but is also given employment
during the time of the scholarship period.
