Orientation
Orientation is mandatory for every new volunteer so that you
will become familiar with the hospital. It may include any or all
of the following:
·
Mission of the facility
·
Role of the facility in the community
·
Explanation of policies and procedures
(i.e. dress code, sign-in, benefits and awards, etc.)
Orientation lasts approximately three hours. You will be
required to sign confidentiality and commitment documents.
At the completion of orientation, you will also be required to
pass an orientation review.
Having a Successful Volunteer Experience
Make it a learning experience -- Use your observational skills
to learn about things related to the area you are assigned.
Take advantage of opportunities -- Don't pass up
opportunities to try a new experience if it is offered to you.
It's never too late to broaden your horizons.
Always do your best -- It will lead to a sense of self-
satisfaction.
