8. Create a beveled 8-sided cylinder to form the base of the searchlight.
9. Create a hemisphere, then use vertex editing to pull the center por-
tion toward the interior, creating a depression.
10. Create a cone that fits into the depression and extends downward.
11. Move the assembly into position on the catwalk. The assembly will be
duplicated after mapping.

Create the Spires
The spires are antenna-like probes extending outward from the ship, and
they have small lights attached to them.
1. Use the previously constructed mesh and the views in the figures to
determine scale and proportion. Overall length of the spire is about
400 units (see Figure 4.39).
2. Create a side view of the spire and fins as 2D polyline shapes.
3. Extrude or bevel all three shapes. Use SprXxxnn as the object-naming
convention.
4. Rotate the fins 90° and center them on the main spire.
