2005 Parade Application

Step-off at 10:45 a.m. Line-up assignment starting at 9:30 a.m.
Overview:

This is Kalamazoo County's official holiday kick-off celebration. The parade is hosted by Downtown Kalamazoo
Inc., Cumulus Broadcasting and WOTV-Channel 41. The success of the parade depends on each unit's ability to
provide entertainment value and visual celebration. Units must develop a holiday theme; encourage participants to
dress in holiday attire, and to professionally represent their organization or business.

Parade units must complete the information below. It is the participant's responsibility to communicate any
changes or additions to the application between the time of submission and the event. Parade units must adhere to
their stated unit descriptions listed within this application or parade officials reserve the right to deny event day
entry.

Parade officials will assign line-up times and locations. It is the participant's responsibility to ensure compliance
by parade unit members.

New in 2005. Parade units are restricted to no more that 100 members within the unit (excluding marching bands
and their band members).
·
Greater Kalamazoo United Way agency members should verify their compliance to the Greater Kalamazoo
United Way Fundraising Policy prior to submitting an application.

Parade officials require signage on parade units. Signage must be professional and promote the unit. Additional
information will be supplied at the time of confirmation regarding vehicle and unit signage.

Please advise your unit that members participating in the parade cannot distribute any items from their unit
without express approval by the Parade Committee.

Parade units must sign a waiver statement in order to participate.
·
This is a one-mile parade route. Parade units must maintain a consistent traveling pace (2 car-lengths between
units) and ensure that all members of parade unit act in an appropriate manner.

Confirmation of entry will be mailed in October and will include a complete line-up and event day instructions. If
your confirmation information is not received by October 20, please call.
