City Care Performance report 2006 Page 24

We had a strong emphasis this year on leadership within
the company. We have developed a clear picture of the
leadership competencies needed by our leaders at all levels
of the business to achieve City Care's long-term strategic
plan. This allows us to have a very targeted approach to
recruiting new staff, so that they not only fit the role, but will
contribute to achieving our short and long term goals. It will
also help our existing staff to improve their performance so
that they are driving the company towards our vision of
being the best in the business.
Our second major HR initiative this year was to ensure that
everyone in the company is working to achieve our strategic
goals. Individual goals are set with staff and these are aligned
with team goals, branch goals and ultimately City Care's
strategic goals. To assist in maintaining a strong focus on
these goals we have moved from annual performance
reviews to less formal quarterly "on track chats", which
feature discussions around our leadership competencies.
