City Care was engaged on a consultancy basis by Whakatane
District Council to assist the Council's Operations Business
Unit to improve its systems and processes. This contract was
an endorsement from the marketplace of the expertise City
Care has developed following the company's own evolution
from a Council business unit in the 1990's.
The profile of City Care in Auckland was significantly
enhanced with the company being awarded a 12 month
contract for Metrowater to install new fire service
connections and repair and replace existing valves
and hydrants.
The New Plymouth drilling team completed a number
of projects for clients outside the region, as far afield as
Wellington, Palmerston North and Bulls.
In May 2006 City Care's asset services team commenced a
four month contract for new client Wellington City Council
involving a condition assessment programme for all the
Council's commercial buildings. The team also undertook
a condition assessment of the Manukau City Council's
commercial and residential property portfolio.

City Care's specialist heritage restoration team took on a
number of high profile jobs around Christchurch City during
the year, including restoring the exterior of the three main
heritage buildings at Mona Vale. The renovations on the
historic gatehouse, the homestead and the lodge were
planned to minimise disruption to clients and staff of the
homestead, which is a popular venue for weddings
and other functions.
Our landscape team continued to build good relationships
with existing key clients, particularly in the specialised area
of water enhancement projects, and began offering a design
and build service to meet client demand.
City Care's purchase of an 18 inch (450mm) chipper for our
tree division enabled the company to complete a major
project to extract millable timber from Christchurch's Bottle
Lake Forest following a large scale fire in the plantation.
The chipper, which is the largest currently in operation
in the South Island, is capable of handling whole trees
and large logs up to almost half a metre in diameter.

City Care's annual survey of clients yielded
an overall satisfaction rating of 6.6 out of 10,
compared to 6.75 last year. However, it is
difficult to compare this result directly to
that of last year as we completely changed
the survey questions this year to better
reflect the Baldrige customer service
excellence criteria.
