City Care - Performance report 2005
5
As a measurable indication of our commitment to best practice
in all areas of our business we maintain accreditation to the
following standards:
· ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
· ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
· NZS 4801 Health and Safety Management System
· ACC Workplace Safety Management Practices
Tertiary Level
City Care has been independently assessed as being compliant
with the above standards across all areas of our business and in
all of our geographical locations.
We are currently working towards accreditation to the
Investors in People standard which is the only international
standard awarded to companies that meet a range of criteria
for excellence in people management. Once the standard is
achieved, a company must show ongoing improvements against
each of the criteria to retain the standard.
City Care also uses the Baldrige Criteria for Performance
Excellence to assist us in establishing priorities for improving
our business. The Baldrige Criteria are published annually by
the US Department of Commerce and reflect latest research
findings on successful management practices in high performing
organisations. City Care's senior management team audits
the company's management systems against the Criteria at
least once each year. This enables the team to identify projects
for business improvement that will enhance the company's
performance and help us to achieve our vision.
City Care has had its vision endorsed by winning a number
of awards for best practice during the past year, including the
Champion Canterbury Award for best service provider and the
first ever "Sustainability Innovation Award" for the pre-apprentice
work skills programme at the Sustainable Business Awards in
late 2004.
Values
This year City Care has repackaged our core values to make
them more accessible for staff. While the key elements of the
value statements remain largely the same, we have attempted to
capture the sentiment of each value with a short phrase and a
corresponding image.
Later in this report we have included case studies illustrating our
values in action within City Care.
OUR VISION AND VALUES
City Care's Vision: To be regarded by our Customers, Competitors, Employees and
Shareholder as the best in the business.
