a. In previous years City Care has used Serco as one of
our benchmark competitors. However, as Serco was
absorbed by Transfield during the reporting period it is
no longer an accessible benchmark. We have therefore
chosen to replace Serco with Works Infrastructure in this
year's report.
b. Annual hours worked are the physical hours spent on
the job. Total paid hours include holidays, sick and
special pay.
c. We choose the person at the top of the lowest decile in
order to filter out part-time staff or trainees whom we are
supporting to complete substantial training programmes.
d. This is the base benefit figure, and does not include family
assistance or accommodation supplements, which may
also be available to our LAE.
e. The company-funded superannuation payments are an
ongoing entitlement that applies to former CCC workers
who were members of this scheme when City Care was
formed. The scheme is closed to new members.
NOTES TO PERFORMANCE
STATEMENT
f. City Care takes into account only the company's
direct effect when calculating energy consumption
and greenhouse gas emissions in order to avoid
the possibility of "double counting" of environmental
impacts. We therefore do not take into account supplier
activity like air travel and subcontractors' vehicle usage,
or the energy and greenhouse gas effects from the
fabrication of plant and equipment we purchase.
g. The conversion to households is based on an average
residential energy use figure of 43.76 gigajoules per
household. This data was obtained from the Ministry for
the Environment.
h. Conversion of greenhouse gases to native forest
consumption is based on the EBEX21 project of
Landcare Research Ltd.
