and union fees resulted in deductions
of $3029. PAYE was $6178, leaving
a nett income of $21,517 p.a., which
equates to $413.78 per week to take
home. As a comparison, the take
home benefit for an unemployed
couple with two children is currently
$290.72 per week.
Though the take home pay of this
year's LAE is similar to last year's,
the large superannuation payment
by the company means the total
remuneration package is 11.6%
higher than last year.
City Care's median remuneration for
all employees in the financial year
was $38,878, up from $37,697
in 2003 (FIG.07. below).
Grievances and Disputes
City Care had one personal
grievance in the year, which was
settled prior to mediation. We know
of no grievances outstanding.
For the first time since we were
formed City Care did have one
dispute with the Amalgamated
Workers Union of New Zealand.
The Union argued that payments
were not being made in accordance
with the way the new contract
was worded, where the company
argued the wording of the document
was a technical oversight that did
not reflect the intent of our recent
settlement. The company agreed
to pay on wording up to the date of
mediation, and the union agreed to
a variation at that date that reflected
the settlement intent.
