1. Introduction
Family Camping Tips was written to help new campers, but even experienced campers will find
useful information here.
"Tent camping" is how almost every family starts out. Tent camping includes car camping,
canoe camping and backpacking. You can camp at local, state, provincial or national parks,
forest service campsites, and even national chains of commercial campgrounds. There are lots of
places to go and stay.
Tent camping is very popular. Some of us love tent camping so much we never do any other type
of camping. Others move on to become RV'ers and will try a pop-up tent trailer, then a camping
trailer or a motor home. Even then, most RV'ers still keep a tent handy for their younger guests.
Our tips and information come from two sources: First, from the famous "Master Maine
Guides," who are known to be the best outdoor guides and outfitters in the world. A Master
Maine Guide is tested and then licensed by the State of Maine (USA) to provide enjoyable and
safe outdoor experiences while camping, canoeing, hiking, wildlife watching, fishing and
hunting. Maine Guides are skilled in the outdoors, and know how to keep you safe, warm, dry
and comfortable in all weather conditions - sun, wind, rain or snow!
Our second source of information is from campers like you, who love to share their experiences
and encourage other families to get in on the action. Maybe you might even like to share your
experiences with other campers. Send your questions, tips and trip reports to
webmaster@familycampinggear.com, so we can share your hard won skills with others. You can
also join a camping association and share knowledge, experiences and camaraderie with others.
Happy camping!
